“Automation has made it possible to produce so many objects — from bread to shoes — without the intervention of human hands (assuming that pressing a button doesn’t count). What things do you still prefer in their traditional, handmade version?”
Nisu/Pulla: Even though I’ve never seen it mass produced (and I hope it never actually does), I’ll always eat handmade nisu. Nisu, or it’s actual name Pulla, is a Finnish cardamom bread. My Nana usually makes it during the winter. One day I hope to learn how to make it. Nana tried showing me once but since she’s been making it for probably 50 years (after she married my Papa), she makes it way too fast for me to keep up with. I need to learn how to make it through to keep the tradition alive. She’s pretty much the only one left in my whole (big) family who still makes it. I also have to find out if she knows my Mumu’s sweet roll recipe.
Knitting: I also love handmade hats, mittens and scarves. I tried learning how to knit once but I never seemed to get it. I wish I still had all hats and mittens my Mumu and Gigi made for me. Oh! And I love handmade knit blankets.
Pickles: The homemade pickles my Nana started making last year are quite something. I’ve never had a pickle like it in my life. I am addicted to them though.
Love Letters: Love letters from my girlfriend are my favorite. I have box of every little small thing she gives me. I say small things because I can’t fit a shirt or teddy bear into the box.
Bracelets: I love handmade string bracelets. I love the designs. One of my favorite designers is my friend Mel. She puts in so much effort. To see her bracelets, click here to view her shop. And here is her instagram for her shop so you can see her process of each bracelet.
Maple Syrup: God I love real maple syrup. But that could be because I’m a biased New Hampshire girl who will always prefer handmade syrup over that fake shit. I’m putting this in here even though people who make it run it through machines and “press buttons” to make it. They still have to do the whole set up to gather syrup from trees by hand so it still counts.

Originally I was going to try to make a mixtape with songs from superhero movies seeing as how I watched Iron Man 2, Thor and am currently watching Batman: The Dark Knight Rises. But when I was looking up songs, they were just orchestra music and I figured people would get bored with that. So since it’s been a storming off and on today, I figured I make a mellow/acoustic kind of mixtape today. Enjoy…

Sorry no Friday Favorites again this week. I totally spaced it again. Not to mention, I was busy all day Friday. And pretty much the only reason why I was able to do Friday’s Daily Post was I started it on my phone waiting for my sister to get a cleaning at the dentist. And I’m sorry for no Daily Post yesterday and today. Yesterday I went to visit my girlfriend. It’s a long trip but worth it all every single time I go to see her. And today’s post didn’t really seem to interest me. But I’m back! I have decided to join the weekly posts of “Sunday Sweets & Smiles” by bloggers Kaitlyn and Sarah. Someone once told that all I post about on tumblr is negativity. What that person didn’t realize that 1. my tumblr is my blog, I can post what I want on it. And 2. I like to release my frustration out sometimes on my blog. So I thought these Sunday posts would be a way for me to let people know what I see for positivity in the world every week.
Oh my god, I burst out into tears after watching this dog faint after being reunited with it’s owner after two years (the owner had been working in Europe for the past two years). I’ve never seen a dog so unbelievably happy before. It really is true that dogs truly love us more than we’ll ever know.
Danny Nickerson had one simple little request for his 6th birthday this year…to get birthday cards. If you haven’t heard his name or his story, he’s a (now) 6 year old little boy who was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), an inoperable and chemotherapy resistant brain tumor. Well little boy had his birthday wish come this year…in a GIANT way. Within one day, he had over 50,000 letters/cards come through the mail! Never mind the fact that he got presents too! He got more mail than every single person in his hometown of Foxborough, Massachusetts (which is 16,865+ residents)! This is definitely one birthday he’ll never forget. And here’s to many more birthdays!

Meghan Trainor’s song about being more body positive. The world needs to listen to this song.
Good thing they decided to skip school that day. Oliver and James were perfect as Fred and George. Who needs school when you can be in the one of the most successful movie series of all time.
” Do you — or did you ever — have a Best Friend? Do you believe in the idea of one person whose friendship matters the most? Tell us a story about your BFF (or lack thereof).”
I think everyone has a best friend. And sometimes that best friend constantly changes. It can either be a friend, mom, sister, cousin, significant other, dog, ect.
My girlfriend is my best friend. I trust her the most out of anyone in the world (besides my immediate family). I love her so much and I can talk to her about anything and everything. I absolutely love that not only she’s my girlfriend but my best friend too.
No story. I don’t want to talk too much about our relationship on this blog.

“We all have songs that remind us of specific periods and events in our lives. Twenty years from now, which song will remind you of the summer of 2014?”
I don’t really have too many. Mostly because most of the songs on the radio right now are crap. No really, they are. And nothing has been that big (in my opinion) during the summertime for the past (at least) three years. At least not any good songs. So here’s my top 10 favorite songs that have come out this summer so far…
- “Classic” – MKTO
- “All About That Bass” – Meghan Trainor
- “You & I (Nobody In The World)” – John Legend
- “Counting Stars” – OneRepublic
- “Really Don’t Care” – Demi Lovato
- “Something Bad” – Miranda Lambert ft. Carrie Underwood
- “Come With Me Now” – KONGOS
- “I Adore You” – Adore Delano
- “Secrets” – Mary Lambert
- “Superbad” – Jesse McCartney
I know, I usually do mixtapes on Mondays but a mixtape fit for this post.
